Treating Hairballs To Prevent Future Problems

Cats and hairballs go together. There is no way around it. Chances are if you have a cat, you have problems with hairballs. Hairballs can be more of a problem if your cat has long hair. Usually a cat can get rid of it’s own hairballs simply through it’s digestive system or by vomiting it out. In some cases though, hairballs can become a problem that if left untreated, can even become life threatening to your cat. There are things you can do to lessen hairballs and prevent future problems.
The first thing you can do is to brush your cat’s fur daily. Brushing your cat will pull up loose strands of hair that would normally be digested by your cat. You can also buy cat food that is specialized for hairballs. These foods are rich in oils such as mineral oil which strengthen the hair and petroleum which coats your cat’s tummy and digestive system for a smoother passage of hairballs.
By brushing your cat’s fur daily and feeding them foods made for hairballs, you will reduce the amount of hairballs your cat will get. Also, keep an eye on the hairballs they do get and try to eliminate them fast before problems arise.
On another note a friend of mine has just started a beauty forum. She would really appericate any help starting it up so if you have some time please drop in.
