Understand the psyche of your customers
It cannot get better than being a business owner and marketing expert at the same time. Many businesses fail due to lack of appropriate marketing. It is always good to have a genuinely good product, but even that would not bring success to your door step. The key is to properly market it. Unfortunately marketing trends keep changing and people in this field have to keep updating themselves with the current market trend.

My last job was as a technical support expert at Dell computers. My job was to help Dell customers with their computer problems and to store all the valid information into a software program. This information is then used by the marketing team to find newer and more effective ways to market Dell products. Customer Data integration is at the heart of marketing. When the data of various customers are integrated, you can easily see what is going good for you and what is not.

I think when it comes to marketing the age of the marketing director should be the same as the target age group or at least the same as the majority in the target group. Gender matching will also greatly help. To effectively market a product it is very important to understand the psyche of your potential customers. No matter what reason you give me, I am not going to believe that a 55 year old will be able to know how to sell something to a 20 years old. It’s simply impossible. I know what I am saying is a bit hard on marketing directors who are around the age of retirement, but I honestly feel that I am right. I completely agree to the fact that not all 20 years olds are the same, but I am sure that 20 years olds would have more in common among themselves than between a 50 years old and 20 years old.
